Sad times permeate the air of a once-great nation. A nation that once revered and aspired to intelligence is now intimidated by it. We once enjoyed the debates in our personal lives and over the airwaves. But no longer. Our television offerings are now dominated by ignorant pabulum that neither teaches nor elevates. And so the new normal is the dumbing down of America. And our collective intelligence level has diminished in response. Our tolerance of differing viewpoints is over. Our desire to debate and offer differing viewpoints, once a source of intellectual exercise and enjoyment, is the source of ridicule and the basis for hatred. In the case of Charlie Kirk, it was the impetus for a murderous madman's bullets.
Want a perpetually empty place to go and relax? Go to a bookstore. No one reads any longer. At most, we listen to books on tape. Sad. No desire for advanced learning. No respect for great literature. At most, we depend on the creation of movies to bring them to life, rather than reading and having them created in our minds.
The nation used to love reading newspapers for knowledge and entertainment. No longer. It's thirty-second sound bites on the news, which neither educates nor succeeds in giving us the whole story, or the truth even.
No respect for learning, no tolerance for intellectual discussions, no reading, no deep thinking.
It's the new normal. It's the dumbing down of America. What happened in the egregious assassination of Charlie Kirk. wasn't just the death of a political and spiritual leader. Because he didn't die alone. With him died the ability to communicate your views without fear and the desire to debate.
