Lower my taxes and I will give more to ministries that feed these people. Raise my taxes (or alternatively, make the gift % lower from 35% to 28% -- like Obama did), and less money gets to these people. Thirty cents on the dollar make it to the street via welfare. Seventy cents makes it to the street via Salvation Army. Econ 101.
Very Cool. My father-in-law works for Nestle. They are (and by extension, we are) pretty good at getting down to the food banks during holidays. Our church as well helps out the local food bank.
The food pantry down on Railroad Ave in Newhall is always looking for donations and volunteers; it is a great local organization. Grace Baptist also hosts an open food pantry twice a year and runs a biweekly food delivery program to those in the community. It is amazing the stories you hear in our own backyard.
There are many people in our community need a helping hand; but it is so much better if offered with a compassionate smile. I would encourage everyone to get involved somewhere.
Welcome to my world, "The World According to Kimba." You may not agree with everything I write or think, and may not subscribe to my particular viewpoints on the issues of the day, but it is all me; as it should be. I intend to use this blog to voice my opinions and perceptions on the world, in the hopes that someone, somewhere listens, and hopefully leaves a comment to spur others on to weighing in. Vox populai, the voice of the people. That is what this blog is about, that is what the blogosphere should be about. If you would like to contact me directly, I can be found at kimbarudd@att.net. Thanks for reading, Kimba.

100% of the food donated to food banks makes it into the tummys of the hungry. Home Ecom 101.
Seriously, when the kid explains how he likes to go there because "eating is fun," then his big eyes soften in silence, it tore me up.
Friday I e-mailed my corporate division for permission to hold food drives for the rest of the year at my stores.

Hey, our church has a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 this evening. Pop on by and enjoy a Bristol Farms catered meal while we talk about the poor.
