Phobia: 1. A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous. 2. The fear that paying a slightly higher tax rate will threaten the uber-rich's financial portfolio and drive them into poverty.
What is the debate here? When we were in the middle of a world war, and the government needed supplies, scrap drives were created and the results were phenomenal. When we needed to boost production of planes for the war effort, everyone pitched in (Rosie the riveter) and production went from 6k in 1940 to 96k in 1944, enough to fill the skies...and victory was ours. No one complained as the government rationed sugar, gasoline, tires, coffee, meat, etc.
Today our country is in the midst of an economic crisis; have we become so spoiled, so jaded, so selfish that we cannot ever come together as a country for a common cause ever again?
Critics of closing tax breaks and tax loopholes for the uber wealthy often say that when compared to the deficit, it would be a "drop in the bucket." I say so what's the problem? We could use some drops in the bucket right now. I'm not rich by any means, but I would gladly pay an extra percentage of taxes to right the economy.
This isn't about redistribution of wealth or 1% vs.99%....it's about patriotism. Thank God WWII happened a few generations ago instead of today...imagine our generation given ration books and asked to "come to the aid of their country?"

What could be better for us.....the primary goes on with them attacking each others obvious limitations for being elected....Santorum going after Gingrich....Uncle Fester grabbing votes, and Gingrich being...well, nut job Gingrich. He is Joe Biden without all the charisma baggage.
Newt Gingrich, fined 300k for ethics violations by a 395–28 House vote. It was the first time in history a speaker was disciplined for ethical wrongdoing. ....left his first wife while she recovers from cancer....cheated on and left his second wife demanding theirs be an "open marriage" or we are done. What a putz. Who on earth will agree to be his running mate...Mel Gibson?

There he is folks, your winner and still champion.....hold your nose and vote for Mitt Romney. The GOP slate of candidates is sooo incredibly weak that Perry still thinks he has a chance, and 2 nut bags like Paul and Santorum are in the upper eschelon. Blows my mind that a huge political party as the GOP consistently fails to promote a viable candidate for President.
Is it any wonder that the majority of pundits give President Obama's reelection an every increasing percentage of viability? Mitt Romney...someone without any passion except for self promotion...someone who would trade in his grandma for the Oval Office...say or do literally anything...be anything...it takes to win. It is only a matter of time before the press starts scrutinizing his performance of Bain Capital..and he will be clouded over with taint. Can you say four more years?
