A NATIONAL TRAGEDY

Get over it, it's time for every school to be patrolled by law enforcement. This will help to secure our schools and give our children the opportunity to get to know their local law enforcement as human beings and not the enemy. Students must feel safe attending our schools. These tragedies must end. To do nothing...to sit blithely by and watch tragedy after tragedy unfold in our schools...to watch this epidemic of violence continue in our schools while doing nothing is unacceptable.
That silence you hear is our Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

If we have police patrolling schools, it makes me feel like we've given up, but on the other hand, maybe it's time to give up.

After hearing about the LAPD so much in rap songs, I noted that I only saw a police car maybe every two or three hours around Sunset Boulevard, whereas here in my sleepy suburb, you'll often see two before you've even driven three miles. Get on the interstate during rush hour, and you'll certainly see them lined up two and even three deep, radar guns out, working with their buddy another half mile down the road to fill the coffers with speeding fines.

How peculiar that here in gun-happy Georgia, where supposedly the "good guys" have ample access to guns, we still have so much police activity. Shouldn't we be able to depend on our fellow armed citizens to provide security? Hmm...
