COOKING THE BOOKS, OR STIRRING UP THE POT OF PUBLIC DEBATE?

By now, you probably have seen, or at least heard of this advertisement by the liberal group Move On.org. The President saw it, and called it yellow and cowardly, and used the opportunity to call the left his usual bowl full of shit...the latest version of "you are either with ME or against me", or "you are the terrorists best friend", "you are against the troops" or "Al Quida votes Democratic."
He even went so far as to have the conservative sheep of congress draft a meaningless, time consuming piece of fluff in order to condemn Move On.org. Give them credit, they even got 22 liberals to vote for it.
The question bares repeating...did the General betray us? I say NO. Just because he gave up his military command just long enough to be the President's PR man in congress? NO. He didn't betray us by mis-communicating the amount of casualties in Iraq, he didn't betray us by trying to sell the American people on the mistaken notion that the surge is working all over Iraq; he betrayed his soldiers. He betrayed himself. Because by allowing himself to be the Presidents lap dog, he crossed the line between being military and being political; something his predecessors never would.
Can you imagine Patton, Eisenhower, et al being used as a propaganda tool? Hell no. They would rather quit the military than appear weak. The truth? The Pentagon has come up with fuzzy statistics to attempt to justify troop surge, and paint a rosy picture in Iraq. The truth is, the daily number of civilian deaths is almost twice the average pace from last year. The truth is, the good and brave General is known for misstating the truth...such as when he said just before the 2004 election, "The Iraqi leaders are stepping forward," "Iraqi security elements are being rebuilt" or when he said in 2005, "Enormous progress is being made with the Iraqi security forces." The only thing I have heard the good General say which even remotely resembles the truth is when he stated recently
"The U.S. will be in Iraq in some way for the next 9 or 10 years."
LIKE IT..... OR NOT, BELIEVE IT ....OR NOT, AGREE WITH IT .....OR NOT,
FREEDOM OF OPINION AND THE PRESS STILL FLORISHES IN THIS COUNTRY.
AND THERE ISN'T A DAMN THING KING GEORGE II CAN DO ABOUT IT.
I BET THAT'S ENOUGH TO KEEP HIM UP NIGHTS.

You are wrong in your summation of what Petraeus "supposedly" lies about. I cannot believe you would support the contentions of MoveOn.org, a group with very - VERY close ties to communist organizations and endless money supplies from Soros.

Ugly.

I am less in support of Move On, as I am appauled by the President and the congress wasting their....no, our time with public speeches and tying up the legislative branch of government for such a ridiculous exercize as a vote of condemnation.

By doing so, the conservatives (and King George II) will draw thousands of people into checking into Move On.org. They have ignorantly given free national advertising to an organization they stand diametrically opposed to.
In the words of Forrest Gump..stupid is as stupid does.

The more Dems that are joined up with MoveOn the easier it is for politicos like me to spread the word that the Left is loony as ever.

Spread the word......to the MINORITY of the voting population that isn't left leaning, and in your view "loony."

If Fred, or whoever, is going to be elected, they need to come out with the absolute truth.

Like, we will maintain a presence in the Middle East FOREVER. That was the Bush plan, you do not have to like it, but it is in our vested interests, period.

Or, "sure there are many hundreds of thousands of citizens without medical insurance, and that is unfortunate, but we aren't going to lift a finger to help them. There will always be poor people, but the role of the Thompson administration will not be to waste money helping them. Pity.

How about "yes, I know that the people are separating into two distinct groups, the haves and the have nots." This is Marxism at its best, and my job will be to protect the rich because without them, the entire economy goes asunder. Their individual (and corporate) growth and success is what we must dedicate ourselves to, so the tax reduction plan must, and will continue. They get the cookies, you fight over the crumbs as they trickle down to you.

It just may work--telling the truth. It would be better than every candidate claiming they can fix healthcare, social security, etc.

How about the new Biden / Richardson (et al) plans to pay for college federally if they complete one year of public service (pathetic)? Like that will ever happen....

Personally, I would get up into a debate and tell them the majority of what is wrong with America.........is the American people. Healthcare costs are skyrocketing because you are a bunch of overweight (me too), lazy losers.

The real "no child left behind" is not new...you parents out there have left your children behind for decades now. They get to kindegarden and can't even HOLD a book, much less begin to read one. Your children come home with homework, and you don't sit down with them and help them...or are too stupid to help. The trouble with your children avoiding books, is they haven't seen you pick one up ever. Watching TV is the behavior you have engrained into them.

And on and on.... Is the world ready for the plain truth? A Kennedyish approach to ask not....?

I do not think so. For all of their faults (and they are a bit loony as you like to say), but not everything Dennis K., Ron P. and that idiot from Alaska is complete rubbish. They attack the candidates from their own parties because they have the nerve to tell the people that what they are hearing from your candidates are complete lies...

Just a point before I go to work. those "millions" without health-insurance include teenagers who are just starting out in life or are covered by their parents, by people who work under the table (like I did for 3-years) and choose not to pay for a health-insurance policy but instead buy a LCD TV, etc., etc..

You can throw numbers around like a drunken senator driving off a bridge, but what you view as actual numbers is actually political hogwash.

I am a "no-insurance" statistic you know... because I do not choose to take the $1,500 deductible insurance from Whole Foods but rather take the $50 E-Room deductible from my wifes work. but in the D.C. numbers game, I am uninsured.

WOW...did you actually mean to say, "like a toe tappin' airport sex in a bathroom stall conservative?"

OK, now I understand...yes, there are millions of uninsured people out there, but the majority of them do not need it anyway.

My conversion to the Republican party is now complete...where do I get my Fred Thompson for President button?

By the by, I waive my coverage at work as well (Lydia covers me with LAUSD), but I highly doubt if I am considered uninsured in the eyes of the federal government. With the LAUSD plan (also known as the Petreaus plan), I am covered if I am shot in the back of the head, but not the front. Also, if I meet my demise with a road side bomb, I am considered offically "alive", and am expected to report to work or call in sick.

Kimba,

We drum out the lewd Republicans... not give them three standing ovations and important committee positions.

Period.
