THE 2008 KIMBA WORD LIST

Celebrating the best words of 2008,
and the people who best represented them....
1. Vacuous: to Sarah Palin for her unfortunate run at the White House, and attempt to act intelligently. Empty, devoid of serious occupation, marked by a lack of ideas or content.
2. Sycophantic: to Caroline Kennedy for her attempt to get a freebie seat in the Senate. Marked by or exhibiting a fawning attentiveness, obsequious, bootlicker.
3. Philanderer: to John Edwards, who somehow found the strength to cheat on his wife while she was receiving treatment for a fatal disease (cancer). To be sexually unfaithful to one's wife, whore, scumbag.
4. Messianic: to Barack Obama, for obvious reasons. Marked by idealism and an aggressive crusading spirit.
5. Sepulcher: to Reverend Wright for his employment of his pulpit to spread hate. A person inwardly corrupt or wicked but outwardly or professedly virtuous or holy, hypocrite, race baiter.
6. Hubris: to the Bush administration, for their unique blend of arrogance and ignorance which will mark what was one of the worst presidential administrations in modern times. An overly exaggerated self-confidence, or pride.
7. Audacity: no, not to Obama, to Rod Blajovich for attempting to cash in on filling the Obama senate seat for personal and financial gain. Recklessness, daring, temerity.

Kimba,

Did you grab your present from Whole Foods? I have been out of work since my resurgence of MS, but figured leaving it at the "customer help" would be the best place to try and get a Christmas present to you.

I did, thank you very much. Actually I left you a thank you comment one one of our blogs.

Lydia was shopping for a small Xmas gathering, and needed some foodie stuff that could not be found any where else, so when she called me from there, I asked her to get it.

Unfortunately she also bought stuff there that she could have gotten elsewhere, or I could have made at home, and spent a bit too much money. Especially on cheeses, pitas and hummas. Very good quality, but expensive. She got an exotic type of hard parm/reg cheese that was very good, and a herb sausage also very tasty (don't tell your friend, but she also bought the prerequisite soft brie for the cheese plate).

Hope you Xmas was a happy one.
Kimba

p.s. I also got into a bit of a verbal confrontation with a conservative at a party recently. Lydia has made me take a vow of silence when I hear someone spouting off about politics after a few too many glasses of vino. The person I confronted loved it, but everyone else in the room became uncomfortable. Like my good friend who worked for the drunken blow hard. Oops.

My wife is the same way. The political minds like to talk abruptly about politics... in a friendly manner. Unfortunately, talking about issues as important as politics and religion isn't socially acceptable... which reflects in the younger generations complete lack of perspective -- serious perspective -- on these issues beyond their own "feelings."

Any time you want to have some vino and talk abruptly about politics Kimba, I am here for you...

...friend.

Hi Papa G!

I did indeed pick up your gift to Kim. Very thoughtful of you. As for my 'making' him take a vow of silence when confronting an idiot talking politics at a social gathering -- hogwash! You should know by now that I couldn't possibly force Kimba do take a 'vow of silence' or do anything else he doesn't want to, for that matter.

He is his own person, so to speak - a true individualist and independent thinker. He keeps his own consul on all things and does largely what he pleases most of the time. Hell, I can't even get him to take out the trash! It's a bit lonely at times but at least he brings home his paycheck, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke - oh, wait a minute! Well, two out of three ain't too bad! He's a good man, intelligent, a bit aloof perhaps, but a good man nonetheless.

Just wanted to set the record straight! (Can you tell I'm on vacation now and actually have time to leave comments on this thing? -- unlike you two who seriously need to get lives!!

A happy and properous new year to you and your family.
