Sarah Palin must have felt right at home last night during her speech to the G.O.P. convention: there were almost no black people. African Americans make up only 3.7 percent of the population of Alaska. And that’s about three times higher than the percentage of African Americans at the G.O.P. convention.
“As the country rapidly diversifies, Republicans are presenting a convention that is almost entirely white,” the Washington Post reported today.
Only 36 of the 2,380 delegates seated on the convention floor are black, the lowest number since the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies began tracking diversity at political conventions 40 years ago. Each night, the overwhelmingly white audience watches a series of white politicians step to the lectern–a visual reminder that no black Republican has served as a governor, U.S. senator, or U.S. representative in the past six years.

The lack of diversity is out of sync with the demographic changes in the United States. The Census Bureau reported last month that racial and ethnic minorities will make up a majority of the country's population by 2042 -- almost a decade earlier than what the bureau predicted just four years ago. Two-thirds of Americans are non-Hispanic whites, 12.4 percent are black and 14.8 percent are Hispanic, according to 2006 census numbers.

Soooooooooooooo what!!!!! Big friggin' deal. I noticed that there were not too many purple people out there. So how come there was no mention of the Asian community?? Do they not count? Why is it always about blacks and hispanics? American Indian doesn't count? Could it be that no black or hispanic person has stepped up to run for governor, US senator or US representative? Where is Colin Powell. I'll tell you where, he's at home nice and comfy laughing at all the politicians on both sides of the isle making complete asses out of themselves.
So I ask you, what is the point in even posting a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo that can be spun in almost any direction you want.
My post needs no "spin." The facts speak for themselves. After this election, statistics forecast that there will be 9 more Presidential elections during which the caucasians will make up the majority of the U.S.
The largest factor in guaranteeing the viable existance of a powerful third party in this country's future is the lack of minority inclusion into the Republican party.
The point is that the Repubs are losing touch with the general population of the country they are trying to win control of. They are becoming a party not of the masses, but of the wealthy and arrogant. Since the party population is shrinking and become less attractive to the mainstream, it is becoming the cause of its own demise. As time goes on and more of the old men and woman of the repub. party die, there are fewer people attracted to this party to replace them. Take a minute and check out the amount of young, first time voters signing up for the Dems. and then compare it to those for the Repubs.
That's the point.

Purple people?
Could it be that no black or hispanic person has stepped up and run for office?
That is mumbo jumbo.
